art quilts

What is an Art Quilt? Definitions abound. For me, as long as it has fabric, layers, and stitching and I might like to hang it up on the wall … it’s an art quilt. Unless, of course, I want to use it some other way. Or it’s manipulated into a 3-dimensional object. Or whatever. No need for categories and rules to dampen the joy of creating … the joy of art!
So enjoy, give feedback, and come along with me on my fabric journey …

D & D Alignments

I stumbled upon the Dungeons & Dragons world and was intrigued by the storytelling aspect of the game. Gameplay characters are defined by their moral/ethical views of good vs evil and lawful vs chaos; yielding a grid of nine possible options (including neutral).

And while I’m not a Dungeons & Dragons player, I find this alignment grid a fascinating source of inspiration.

Rabbit

My overflowing fabric bins are my version of crayons. I selected 150 of my favorites and stacked them up in a jumble not unlike my childhood crayon box

Recent times have found my thoughts even more scattered than ever … but all is still lightly tethered to my center and held together by friends and family.

Or “Feed Your Head.”
Sometimes a story or song inspires me … sometimes a song just finds me as I work and becomes a title.

National Parks

Small wall quilts inspired by the colors of nature in our National Parks. (Also, if you don’t follow the National Park Service’s Twitter feed … it’s really worth it …)
