“Mid-century Modern” is everywhere these days; showing up in bolts and stacks of great upholstery fabrics.
(Okay, brief sigh as realization that my childhood now falls into the “vintage” category passes …)
The bold lines and earthy colors of these fabrics are wonderful and I’ve had such fun making iPad and laptop sleeves. I work from the same base pattern but take cues from the geometric designs to vary the flap for each fabric; echoing curves and angles. And many upholstery fabrics are reversible, with the opposite side providing a striking accent.
Vintage fabrics and current electronics seem to marry perfectly. Maybe it’s the knowledge that my shiny new iPad will be vintage so soon?!
